Why Discord Nitro checkout keeps failing
Discord bills through a short list of payment rails, and each one is tied to the country your card or PayPal account was opened in. Break any link in that chain and the payment dies. Usually you get a generic error that explains nothing.
Four things cause most declines:
Your card was issued outside a supported region
Discord accepts cards from banks in the countries it bills for. Everywhere else gets declined, and your balance has nothing to do with it.
Your bank blocks international or recurring charges
Plenty of banks refuse subscription charges from merchants they don't recognise, especially the first time one shows up. Nobody thinks you're a fraudster. It's just a rule sitting on your account.
A VPN puts your card and your connection in different countries
Processors check your billing address against where you appear to be sitting. If those two disagree, the payment gets stopped. Forgetting to switch off a VPN is enough to do it.
PayPal isn't fully supported where you live
PayPal shows up as an option at checkout even in places where it can't complete the payment. Local restrictions on the account stop the charge before Discord ever sees it.
One catch: Discord sells its own gift cards through a handful of US retailers and nowhere else, at least for now. So "just buy a gift card" is advice that only helps if you're already in the States.
